Recent News

Our very own Jim Berrios was once again a speaker at the recent Communities in Schools of Kent Annual Breakfast and helped raise over $14,000. Which is great feat considering todays economy. Also featured was a Kent Phoenix Academy student who has overcome true adversity. She is back on the right track working towards a successful future. Jim is also a board member of the Kent School District.

"Way to go Jim!"

Did you know?

Won't YOU help the Key Clubs raise money by using Goodsearch as your internet search engine?  Key Club International is registered as a recipient of funding from YAHOO, and each time we use www.goodsearch.com as our search engine (not your home page, just your search engine), Key Club International receives 1 cent!!!  It doesn't cost you anything, YAHOO is a very reputable internet provider, their search engine is fast, and you can help our Key Clubbers.  The first time you use it, you'll see a place to specify Key Club International (it's about in the middle of the page, and says "Who Do You GoodSearch For?".  Merely type in "Key Club International" and they will remain there as the default funds recipient until you change it.  Try it, and help the kids!!!

Fundraiser

Fundraising Committee

2007/2008 Committee Chair:  Michele Campbell

The Fundraising Committee is responsible to research, plan, organize, gain approval, and implement fundraising activities for the Club.  These fundraising activities include Service Project Fundraisers (100% of the proceeds are used to support service projects), and Administrative Fundraisers, which support the Administrative requirements which the club incurs.  Some of our fundraisers include:

Concession Stands
The Kiwanis Club of Kent, with the help of our wonderful sponsored you in Key Club, partner with the Kent School District to provide concession stand services at French Field during the high school football season, as well as for several special events throughout the year.

Kent Cornucopia Days This annual festival is held in July of each year, and the Kiwanis Club of Kent staffs a food booth which offers the BEST onion burgers in town!  Come visit us during Cornucopia Days!

Entertainment Books Our club annually sells Entertainment! Books as a means of raising both service and administrative funds.

Field of Dreams
Golf Tournament The Kiwanis Club of Kent and the Meridian Kiwanis Club have partnered for the last 8 years to hold our annual Field of Dreams golf tournament.  The proceeds of this tournament have been dedicated to build the Service Club Ballfields, an incredible youth sports complex on Kents East Hill.  In the future, this fundraiser will help provide scholarships for vocational school students at Renton Technical College.

Pacific Raceways
Kiwanis partners with the local Porsche Driving Club, and provides turn-worker volunteers to man the course as local drivers sharpen their driving skills at Pacific Raceways.

Marbles/Happy & Sad Dollars
these weekly administrative fundraisers help provide a fun way to support our administrative fund, and are completely voluntary for members participation.

Chinese Auctions
Occasionally the Club auctions off a special item, either as a means to support a specific project/activity/donation request approved by the Board of Directors, or as a general fundraiser for the Administrative fund.

Volunteer Parking Attendants for NHRA Drags Weekend
this activity allows us to raise service project funding, by staffing the parking lots at Pacific Raceways during the big NHRA drag race weekend each year in July.
